Imagine a Europe where researchers, learners, professionals and industries would be able to research, exchange, deploy, test, retrieve and experiment new approaches in education in an operational framework and test bed, where possibilities are open and ideas are always intellectually fresh, exciting and challenging.

On 25 September 2013 the European Commission presented its communication on a new initiative entitled ‘Opening up Education’. This is a joint action of the two DGs Education and Culture (EAC) and Connect.

Slovenia and more precisely the Knowledge 4 All Foundation Ltd (K4A) and the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the “Jožef Stefan” Institute are also the organizers of OpenCourseWare Consortium Global conference 2014 with its main theme "Open Education for a Multicultural World". At this event we will launch OpeningupSlovenia.

The “OpeningUpSlovenia” case study framework will foster research activities through all aspects of open education, allowing rigorous, transparent, and replicable testing of open learning environments, scientific open education theories, new business models and organisational forms, open education computational tools, and new and emerging technologies for the educational technologies market place.

This unique experimental platform will be sufficiently large, open and flexible to enable horizontal and vertical federation with other educational and research institutions and facilities and stimulates development of new open educational frameworks by target audiences of various types including experimental advanced research on and realistic assessment of users’ tests.

Sign-up now to receive our forthcoming info, packed with the latest developments, calls and news on OpeningupSlovenia.
